School Groups & Educational Tours

Teachers and Caregivers cruise free (conditions apply). Bring your students aboard Kewpie for a fun educational experience on the calm waters of the Tauranga harbour. Obligations to run a fun educational field trip is a priority for schools and holiday programmes, and the Kewpie crew!. Our staff provide strict guidelines to keep everyone happy and safe at all times.

We are fully licenced to operate with school groups with survey provision by Maritime Safety Authority. We are the only charter boat with child lifejackets for up to 80 children. (Lifejackets are not required to be worn, they are for safety only) and Kewpie boat is fully enclosed, there is no open access to the water.

A lot of children have never had the opportunity to go on a boat. Maybe they have never seen Matakana island...

We will work with your school or holiday program to tailor your requirements.
You have the options like a fun cruise with a beach visit and safe swimming. There is an abundance of wildlife including penguins, seabirds, fish and occasional marine mammals all just waiting to be explored.

Or maybe something more educational, geographical and historic...we can provide commentaries on everything about the harbour area and the port. Maybe the kids want to get up close to cruise ships, container ships, tugs.

Consider a Hop off at Matakana island beach for lunch and fun water activities.

  • Bring along your own sandwiches or snacks. Maybe you would like to cook a BBQ $50.00 (gas and cleaning charge applies).

    You put on the apron...and provide your own catering. Kewpie has a massive 6 burner BBQ for your use. You will need to provide everything you require...the cook...paper plates, napkins, sauces and utensils etc. We will provide bins for disposal of rubbish and food waste.

    We can also organise Kewpie Lunch box $13.50 (Note: minimum 20)
